The Lorax Sequel Stop Motion

 Heylo it's me Mark and today I will show you what we did for Topic for the past 2 weeks.

For Topic we watched The Lorax in Netflix for educational purposes, and after we watched it we brainstormed. Then we were told to make our own sequel. We're allowed to use anything to add a new sequel on what you think happened after the movie.

I found it easy to use Stop Motion and move the props around.

I found it hard to make the characters and to make it simple and good at the same time.

Fake News

 For Cybersmart we are learning about media. But last week, we are learning about Fake News. We learnt about learning the difference between Fake News and Real News. We can tell if it's real or not. Also we learnt how to tell if the site is fake or not.

But in this activity we had to make our own Fake News. I tried to make it funny because it's fake news so it's not true and wont offend people.

I found it easy to make it fake since it's not true.

I found it hard to find good photos.

Camp Article

 For Cybersmart, we had to write an article about camp. Lots of stuff happened at camp, and we wrote about it. We also had to make our own ads to make it better.

I wrote about every single bunk rooms eating lollies, and how we didn't get told off for doing it. We had lots of fun at camp. We did a bunch of things, like play outside in the dark as a whole camp game.

I found it hard to find a good time during camp to write about.

I found it easy to make the ads.

The Golden Rule DLO

Heylo!! It's Mark. I haven't posted in my blog for a while, my bad, Anyways.

For R.E (Religious Education), we have been learning about the Golden Rule. Let me explain.

So the Golden Rule is basically in the bible it is shown in Luke 6:31 here's a link if you wanna go read it ----> https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%206%3A31&version=NIV 

It means that treat others the way you want to be treated. But when someone treats you bad, you don't do the same to them. Instead you forgive them. There's more about it in the DLO. 

I found it hard to use book creator because I don't use it that much really. 

I found it easy to explain the Golden Rule, and decorate the DLO.

Maori Language Week Stop Motion DLO

 Kia Ora, Ko Mark toku ingoa. Today i will be showing you my first ever stop motion DLO about Maori Language Week. First I will tell you what I've been learning about and how I made the stop motion.

So I learnt about different animals in Maori. Colours in Maori Black / Pangu. Also sentences in Maori, Ata Marie / Good Morning, Morena / Morning too. And even facts about Maori. About maraes, history and other sorts of stuff.

Okay, so in order to make a stop motion, you have to atleast duplicate one slide into a bunch, so that it could go slowly, or as fast as you like. But if you want it to  be a good one, then add a bunch of the same slides. Then keep adding up more new slides.

Teaching Kids how to draw in Scratch

 Konichiwa, it's me Mark. (Not Japanese by the way. Anime.) Today I will be showing you what I've been teaching people like an hour and a half ago, and what I've learnt. You probably have seen me, with the Lazarbeam / old man profile picture that was presenting in Session 3 and 4.

I taught people how to draw in Scratch automatically. I will figure out soon, on how to put on the recording on my session in here. But for now. wait . 

Anyways, there was a bit of distraction. Like kids not muting their mics, or mics echoing and makes a loud loud NOISE. And you know online class stuff.

Koru and Kowhaiwhai

 Ki ora, It's me Mark. I will be telling you what Korus and Kowhaiwhais are used for.

First of all, if you draw a Koru, or see a Koru on paintings or in plants, It's a sign of peace, new life, and renewal. It's a very popular symbol, that's used in a lot of Maori Art. Korus are important to New Zealand, because of its beauty and meaning.

On the other hand, Kowhaiwhais are used a lot in Maori Art as well. It is always coloured with the traditional colors (white, red, and black). It's sometimes made together with Korus.

Cipher Wheels

Ahoy Matey!! It's me Captain Mark.

Today I will show you what we've been making and doing for 3 days. We've been making Cipher Wheels. Allow me to explain.

Cipher Wheels are something people used to have or make in order for them to understand or solve a message that was given to them, because the message they got were gibberish but it has a meaning to it if you figure out how to understand it.
Basically it's like sending a message to someone, but they don't want others to know about it. So they decide to make a message that looks gibberish but actually isn't.

For our lesson we decided to make messages using Cipher Wheels so that they could find the Crunchie we hid somewhere around the school. And we needed to make clues or just one message in order for them to find out where we hid it.

Jesus' Baptism News Report

Hey Hey, It's Mark.

For Religious Education we have been learning about Jesus' Baptism.

It's when Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. Then stuff happened after Jesus was baptised and everyone was happy about it.
(I included a picture of what it was like. Not what it really was)

Here it is...
Jesus’ Baptism


In Galilee, Jordan afternoon. John the Baptist, was baptizing people as he usually
does. It was a very holy and silent time, but then when John the Baptist saw Jesus,
he was shocked.
     John the Baptist told Jesus that he was the one who should be baptizing people.
But Jesus said “It must be done, for we must carry out all that God requires”.
     So when John baptizes Jesus, as Jesus ascends out of the water.
The sky tore apart and the Spirit of God came down to Jesus like a dove.
John saw everything.
     Then God said “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased”.

Everyone heard what happened and they were happy to see that it was the Son of God.

Pōhā DLO

It is me Mark. For reading we were learning about Pōhā and we watched a video about a family who made Pōhās from generation to generation, and they showed the people on how to make one.

It's about Haberfield - Metzger family. They made a lot of Pōhās and they've been doing it for so long that everyone in their family has mastered how to do it.

For our activity we actually had to make a DLO about Pōhās. And I was actually ready to make one and scavenge for some information about it.

Knowledge DLO

For R.E (Religious Education) we were learning about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Some of the gifts and fruits are Patience, love, joy, peace, kindness, knowledge...
And some others.

We were sorted into buddies or by ourselves. I was in a group with Micah, and we got the gift which is knowledge.

The activity was we had to draw about knowledge and make a short and simple DLO.
Micah and I decided to do it on a Google Drawing. We traced some pictured about knowledge, and also we wrote stuff about them.

Beast Forest Camp

For Writing we were given a task to make our own or write a story and make different paths in it. And we give a choice to the people answering it. Each choice has different stuff in it which means if you pick the other option it has a different story continuing in it.

I wrote about an anime I watch, yes I watch it. And it's called "My Hero Academia". You can search it up. Anyways and I wrote about when the main character (Deku) goes to camp with the class. And other unexpected stuff happens

T2W4 Superhero Reading Activity

For Reading we read a passage about a kid named Zac and he has always wanted to have superpowers, so that he can become the world's first real superhero. He has tried to become Hulk, superman, spiderman, or even batman. He has tried to do all heroes but failed and hurt him self.

One day he was imagining that he was flying on top of the road and watching the traffic. But when he stopped, he saw a baby on the grass crawling towards the road. He saw who it was and it was Penny, she's a 2 year old baby that's from their neighbours. So he came and ran towards Penny and catches her before she goes on the road. Zac then realized that you don't need powers to be a hero.

Ice Cream Truck

For our Reading group we were given a passage we read before called Ice cream truck.
It's about a little boy who has to be healthy and eat healthy food because of his mum. They can't eat any biscuits, chips, or any junk food. But one day he went to softball training and won a match. His Nana bought him ice cream which he have always wanted.

I found it easy to trace and draw for the activities.

I didn't find anything hard to be honest.

Virtues DLO

For our R.E / Religious Education. We had been learning and doing work about virtues. And after those we had to make a DLO so here it is.

I found it hard to try and explain to keep related, and to explain.

I found it easy to write it down and add some ideas to explain the virtue or word.

I worked hard on this but it's pretty short.

Bouncing Bubbles

Hey There.

For Friday April 17th (Today) we only have one subject, which is topic. I was a bit late for online school but I managed to do it in time ( or not I guess).

We had to watch a 15 minute video of 3 people in a lab doing some experiments about "Physical Change and Chemical Change".

After we watch the video we need to do an experiment and I decided to do "Bouncing Bubbles".

And today I read about a pup who was trying to go down to the ocean like the mother can. But it was only a few days old and wasn't brave enough until he got close to the edge...

Ms. Wilton gave us some questions to answer. She also told us to draw what would be in the ocean and I'm working on it.

Poppies DLO

For Reading we have been learning and talking about ANZAC stuff.
For this weeks lesson we learned about Poppies and why they're important to people.
A guy made a poem about poppies during the war. He was a doctor named John McCrae.

We had to make a DLO about it and why it's important and respectful for the ANZAC.

I found it hard to try and not copy and words from anything except any example.

I found it easy to decorate and simple.

ANZAC Mascots DLO

For our Reading we didn't read any passages. We were more focused on making and learning ANZAC Mascots.

ANZAC Mascots are animals/ costumes that did/ will do something in war to cheer people up or to help them.

We had to make a DLO about them. After that we also had to make our own mascot and tell us how it can help soldiers.

I found it hard to try and come up with my own mascot because it's hard to just imagine and draw it for me.

I found it easy to draw and write a DLO, and to draw it and design.

St. Maximilian Kolbe DLO

For our Religious Education. We were given a video to watch but we couldn't watch so we had to read it and also watch the video on Ms. Wilton's computer casted in the TV.

It's about a Guy called Maximilian Kolbe. This is not his real name but he was called that when he became a priest and helped people.

He wrote magazines stuff about God and you should follow him. But once he wrote about the Germans killing Jews and he was arrested by German Gestapo.

He saved a man who was gonna die because he is one of the people who will die if someone escapes the prison. Maximilian Kolbe sacrificed himself.

Also in the end I used and app/site called Voki. Its a app/site that has a lot of characters and you can make them talk. Even Trump is there an d Anime and different characters, Real Life, Fantasy, or Cartoon. You can change the accents and voices.

This is one of the best sites I've found so far.

ANZAC Violin Writing

For Writing, Ms. Wilton rad us a book called "ANZAC Violin".

It's about a guy called Alexander Aitken. He's from New Zealand and fought World War I in Gallipoli. He has went through a lot of fights, problems, and loss in war. But he always used a violin to calm him and everyone, and everyone like him playing it. So they decided to always keep it safe. Even it's not allowed they hid it so that Alex can keep on playing it for them.

Anyways, that's a quick skim through the book.

So we had to make a chart of different descriptive stuff. We had to write down words or a sentence from his perspective / Point of view.

After that, we had to write down a diary from his perspective using the words we wrote.

I found it hard to try and make up some stuff using his own point of view.

I found it easy to come up with words that would describe the location and the sight for him.

Alexander Aitken

“I hear people screaming in pain. It looks really painful. Bones cracking in the distance, while the
doctors get their bones in place. Everyone looks tired and hurt. The beds are stiff and uncomfortable,
and it’s very dirty. It also smells like blood all around here. Shouting. Screaming. Arguing. Panicking.
It’s all that’s going on right now. I hear loud footsteps getting lower and lower, and louder and louder.
Maybe it’s doctors going back and forth. It’s so hot in here, and it’s so dirty. So many muddy
footsteps and blood on the floor. I can barely hear anything anyone is saying. It’s so loud, and
smells really bad in here. I’m really tired, I might need to take a nap. I can still hear screaming
from a room over there. I really feel bad for everyone. People are sacrificing their lives for
their country. Everyone must be brave for doing that. More and more people are being brought in,
as I’m writing. Other comrades are panicking and arguing about their wounds. They look really
scared. I’m sweating a lot. This bed is so annoying. The wood is poking through the bed, It kinda hurts.
I should start playing my violin. Maybe that could calm people down, and make them less noisy.”

Nutrition DLO

Last week we met someone from a Nutrition group or fundraising community named Sophie.
She told us all about which foods to eat everyday, How to check if they're an everyday food or not, and different food groups.

We went to PaknSave to find everyday foods and sometimes / occasional foods.
After we did those, we were given a $60 PaknSave gift card to spend on food to eat for lunch in 24th of February.

We ate Teriyaki chicken, fruit kebabs, veges, and rice.
It was a yummy lunch meal.

So we decided to make a DLO about it.

Island in the Sun

For Reading we were given a different passage in each group, And for our group we got a fictional story called "Island in the Sun".

"It's about people finding an island that's full of trees. Everywhere they look, there are trees. So they decided to use the trees to make houses statues and other stuff they could think of. Many people started arriving at the island.

People kept on cutting trees and making statues for a competition. It didn't matter for them because there were so many of them.

Until one day the last tree was found by one man. After that day birds had no where to live so they flew away. The crops were dying because of the sun, and there were no soil. And everyone got sick.

After 3 years The last people remaining, was rescued by a boat and they never came back."

So that's the Story.
By the way we had to do activities. We only had to do 3 or more.

First Day in Tech

For the first day for Tech, we went to Hornby High School which is another school. We were given a tour around the parts where we need to go every time we do Tech.

But for today we did Science, Woodwork, and rules around the school.

For Science we got an experiment of everyone holding hands, and getting electrocuted at the same time. But it's just like pins and needles, it's not that you could die type of electrocuting thing.

For Woodwork is something that took a lot of effort and time. We had to make Keytags. I know it sounds easy and looks easy, but it's actually hard. You have to cut the wood, file, drill, label, and bend. It probably took us about an hour.

Biscuits for the Teacher

For Reading, we had been put in our groups. There's Mars, Saturn, Mercury, and Venus. And I'm in Mercury.

Our reading passage is called "Biscuits for the Teacher", and it's about a kid named Stephen who liked a teacher called Miss Thomas. She's Stephen's favourite teacher.

One day Miss Thomas said that she was gonna transfer into another school, and Stephen was sad. So he decided to make biscuits for her so that she could remember him.

But he couldn't make it without his mum, and his dad can only make icing. So he had to buy some, but accidentally bought Dog Biscuits.

Anyways. We had to do the activities given to us and I managed to do most of them (We didn't have to do them all).

I found nothing hard, really.

I found it easy to do all of them, including the Creating part.
